City of Baku

Without tanks nor cannons, the war of oil does not leave to create tension between Moscow and the Republics of the Caucasus, worrying the European Union. The republic of the Azerbeijan is in the center of this tension atmosphere. We will discover Baku, "The Oil City".

Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbeijan, became a strategical city after some years in the shade of the Soviet Imperium. In the beginning of the 20th century Baku was producing half the world’s oil. This city had a golden opportunity from 1870 to 1917, and it could happen again soon.

Great occidental companies blink eye the capital azeri, knowing of beforehand that the Russian influence diminishes and of the Americans it increases. The Caspian sea with its oil reserves makes of Baku the center of the attentions for its localization.

In "wind city", statues of Estaline do not exist, instead exist a climate of forgotten world, Slavic
nostalgy, with Russian inheritances.

The south of Baku the beaches of Shikhov, meets it typical Slavic beach conception: techno and beer. The 500 meters of the beach, the oil platforms are part of the vision of the swimmers. “Forbidden to take bath”

The Caspian sea , poluted since has a century, is a oil sea in the true one of the term. The ecological abandonment where if it finds condemns the insane marches of the world and the dogma of an infinite growth, in a planet where the natural resources had finished. Everything this does not dissuade the fishing in Caspian Sea: “ sardines in oil” joke the fishers.

In the center of the city, it vibrates another Baku. Of the renaissance of the oil. Disccs and expensive restaurants where they coexist “golden boys”. Immigrants of all the parts, charming cars, beautiful houses, that at day empty the reserves and at night the cosmopolita side of Baku consumes all the wine of the Geórgia, the neighbor.
